  6. Rating: 1 PARTS ARE FLIMSY! Falls apart when built! by By A customer My 3rd grade daughter and I put it together and pressurized the swivel arm model. It SUCKS! You can't pull the lever without the whole thing falling apart. The only way we could make it work was to DUCK-TAPE the whole thing together. Now that it's taped together it's useless for any other project. The company is more than welcome to contact us --- we would be happy to send pictures and give them a piece of my mind!

Rating: 3 Fun for the methodical, curious and patient, but not for kids who like immediate rewards by By A customer I had a pretty good time working on this kit with my 12-year-old son, but I think I had a better time than he did. I can think of a few possible reasons why that might be. I am probably more interested in the pneumatics and robotics involved, because I'm an adult and have a somewhat better grasp of physics and mechanics, and also I didn't grow up glued to a screen like pretty much every kid today. It's very hard to grab a kid's attention today with a strictly mechanical toy, sadly. He also compared this kit to Lego Mindstorms, which I don't think is an appropriate comparison since that is a much more expensive toy that is controlled with motors linked to an app, while this is purely about physical mechanics.Should you get this for your child? That depends on how much patience they have for building things without a whiz-bang reward. The process can be frustrating at times, especially since the instructions weren't always that clear and some things took a lot of figuring out. I know my son was frustrated by it. I personally enjoyed figuring out how to build the various devices, use the arm to grip things, etc, and the models worked well for us, but you'll have to judge how methodical and patient your child is and decide accordingly.

  9. Rating: 5 Teaching my six-year-old the concept of pneumatics by By A customer Really cool crane you can make. Fun to teach my six-year-old the concept of pneumatics. Comes apart pretty easy though while playing with it, so I would pick one position and then glue it together. Especially the pump. You can't pump it up without pulling it off and holding in your hand. My son loves it!
