Rating: 2Kits ok, the caterpillar process leaves a lot to be desired. by Sunny, Educational Insights I got this kit as a review, lets start out with that. The kit itself is great, has what you need. There is a coupon inside for free caterpillars, just have to pay around $9 shipping (not so free.) I did that and the first set that showed up were beyond dead, I mean they were shriveled up and had been dead for a long time. I sent a video to the customer service team and they said thats normal, they were probably just sleeping to use a q-tip and stroke them, so I did and sent a video back showing that process, they confirmed they were dead. They shipped more and I specifically told them not to deliver before a particular date, they held the order but still shipped early, when I got back home from a trip they were outside waiting for me, I opened them up and 4 of 5 of them were alive and they were much larger than the first set, HUGE difference in quality. We put them on a shelf to do their thing and they molted, eventually turned into butterflies and it was successful, but the fact that getting the caterpillars was a process was a pain, the fact 5 of them cost $9, is pretty crazy.... It's a good kit, it teaches and if you get live ones its great. But be warned... Had the first set not shown up dead it would be 3 or 4 stars, if the caterpillars were free (no shipping) given you bought the kit to begin with it would be 5 stars. But with all the negatives 2 is generous.
