Rating: 3Average quality, but very cute learning tool by Jaimie I really had high hopes for this product. We’re getting our 2.5 year old a wooden play kitchen for Christmas and family members are getting her the play food/items to stock it. Initially I really wanted only wooden and felt food, but stumbled across Learning Resources. With such great reviews, the educational aspect of the toys, and most items being 4-5 stars I was sold on the brand and quickly (although with some reservations) changed the game plan to mostly LR brand and less MD/wooden toys. The first item arrived today (from Grandma) and I’m pretty disappointed in the quality. Here Goes...Pros: The cookie, frosting, sprinkes looks realistic and there is definitely definition from the cookie to the frosting to the design/sprinkle. The tray is small and should fit nicely in a plastic (Step2) or wooden (IKEA) play kitchen.Cons:More than their fair share...Very light weight, small air holes (like bath toys) in each so beware of getting water from washing them or saliva from curious toddler mouth and mold growing inside. I’m going to use small amounts of hot glue to close these. Colors on a few are muddled and not very vibrant (see heart photo). Perfect for little hands (1y-3y) but will be too small for older Preschool- elementary school aged children IMO. The star in ours is bubbled at the bottom so it doesn’t lay flush with the tray like the other shapes.Final thoughts: If I’m so displeased couldn’t just I return it and get other stuff? Yes, absolutely. BUT will our 2yo daughter care about all the imperfections that mommy noticed in our set compared to pictures of sets other families received from Amazon? Absolutely Not!All she will notice are shape cookies inside the oven in her first play kitchen, along with all the other items and she will be overjoyed and thankful AND that is the most important thing. At the end of the day let’s be realistic, the kid would be happy with a box of cereal and empty box. Cheers!
